Camping in July

We camped with friends on the Cache la Poudre River in mid July. It was stunningly beautiful - it was an awesome time.

Beginning of July

At the very end of June we went camping with 6 families to Nebraska. Only a couple of pictures from that one - apparently the 106 degrees made me too lazy to pick up the camera. Then it was off to Kansas City for Jackie's shower. We even got some time to take the kids to Smithville Lake that weekend.

June

We went to Mt. Rushmore in the middle of June. It was a great mix of history, beauty, and goofiness...

May

At the end of the month we went for our first hike of the season. We decided to take a trail outside of Golden to climb to "Castle Rock". It was a nice trail of switchbacks and flowers until we got to the last 20 feet, which is a scramble up boulders and skree. Hannah stepped right over it when Lisa spotted a small rattlesnake sunning itself in our path. It was about 15 inches long and we later found out the little ones are more dangerous - yikes! He didn't move, so we stepped around him. You can see Hannah's expression after the picture of the snake. We got lucky...

Spring is in the air! Last picture is their final day of school.

End of March and early April

We got some major snow at the end of March - enough to build a major snowman. Then a week later was Easter - blue sky and the snow was gone. Logan and Hannah had two Easter egg hunts - one in the neighborhood and one at the cabin.

Logan and Hannah had a dress up day at school. It was "dress as what you want to be when you grow up". Hannah dressed up as a scientist and Logan as an author. No one can say our children are conformists! Strange little nerdy ones they are!
